What is Financial Planning?

You may hear a lot about Financial Planning, and not actually understand what it means. Financial Planning is something that people of any age, income bracket or marital status can and should be doing. At Financial Advisers Australia, we believe that advice should be affordable and accessible for everyone.

A Financial Plan identifies your current financial position, the options that are available to you taking your current position into consideration, and the potential outcomes of each option.

What are the benefits of Financial Planning?

Financial Planning can assist you to better understand where you will be financially in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years, with your current financial structure and spending habits to determine if you will be in the position that you want to be.

However, we also recognise the ‘need’ to have balance in our lives so when preparing your plan, we always add in your goals/wish-list once you have determined your priorities.

How does Financial Planning work?

Our financial plans are designed to show you what your options are, and what the consequences of taking each of those options would be. Most people don’t have a complete understanding of what options are available to them, and they rarely understand what the consequences of those options are.

When creating a plan for you it is essential to first analysis your situation to take a realistic view of where you really will be in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years’ time if you continue on as you are. It is important to do this so as you have a true basis for comparison.

We also compare various scenarios and strategies to consider the options of investing in the major asset classes of property and securitised investments (shares and managed funds). In our initial plans we never recommend any particular product, but rather, showing ‘what is possible’ with various scenarios that you would like to consider, so you have a good understanding of what your options are.
